THINKING OF YOU

When the night lies over you and I lay gently dreaming, although the candle burns no more the journey's now completed. My father's trip to Scotland sparked that song; he built houses, travel led the roads between dreams where days of his youth were spent in the knowledge that he would forever and always be fixing the dwellings for others to use. There in Big Pond "Lupine" bloomed and farm land dwindled away and over grown driveways beckoned once again and life is a song that's never ending...

Old Man

It must be something
While driving through and
You suddenly see a piece of wood
And you know that you drove every nail
To make a place for someone to stay
And it must be something
To realize that somebody
Else now lives inside
When you know you were the
first to walk within

And it must be something to
Rise at the dawn you travel
The roads and you're all alone
Old man what have they done to you
And the tools of your trade
you hold in your hands
You had your life and you
Lived it well and the
Mark of your craft can be
found in the past dwellings that you made

Chorus
And they hold up well
And they stand up strong
And to think my God!
You did it all with
These tired old hands that
Are now holding on to
What's left of your life...

Oh it must be something to rise
At the dawn you travel the roads
And you're all alone
Old man what have they done to you
And the days of your youth were
Spent in the knowledge that
You would forever and ever and
always be fixing and mending and shaping
the dwellings for others to use

Repeat Chorus

Oh it must be something
To rise at the dawn
You travel the roads
And you're all alone
Oh old man what have they done to you...

Shining Strong

I'd like to see you before the snow flies
I hope to make it down that long long drive
I'll bring my greetings from me to you
So put your feet up, I got a story for you

There's not much happening with me these days
A whole lotta work and not much play
I rise and fall with the sun and the moon
I keep on moving, now how about you

Chorus
Do you still get your mail at the end of the road
Do the pipes all freeze when the weather gets cold
Is the radio playing all night long
Is the light in your window still shining strong

I hear you don't go to town anymore
You sold off some acres to some people I know
You take it easy whenever you can
A whole lotta spare time and not much change

I hope you keep the home fires burning
I love to see the smoke from your chimney
And the welcome smile I see in your eyes
You know that's something that money can't buy

Chorus
Repeat Chorus

Moment In Time

It's not what you say
It's not what you do
That makes me reach out to you
When the day is through

It's a feeling comes over me
I just can't explain
It's deeper than oceans
Longer than a lifetime
And it just never leaves

When the heart is wounded
And love walks in
You know you'll live again
You know you will

For a feeling comes over you
You just can't explain
It's deeper than oceans
Longer than a lifetime
And it just never leaves

Chorus
And you fly where the eagles fly
You dance with the stars at night
You reach out with all your might
For your moment in time

Tonight the moonlight
Lights up a dark sky
The love in your eyes
You just can't hide

For a feeling comes over you
You just can't explain
It's deeper than oceans
Longer than a lifetime
And it just never leaves

Chorus (Repeat Chorus)

Lupins

The lupins are dead now
But they did bloom well now
And the vetch and the wild weeds
That grow in your green fields
And please God if time's kind
And there's still a Big Pond
Oh I'd love to come back here again

Your Glengarry farmland
That once was so grand now
You'll only find traces
Of the forgotten places
And please God if time's kind
And there's still a Big Pond
Oh I'd Love to come back here again

Your overgrown driveway
That leads off your highway
To the landmark of my time
When I was a young child
And please God if time's kind
And there's still a Big Pond
Oh I'd love to come back here again

And Jessie at noontime
Oh she'd have the tea on
And I'd sit in the kitchen
And I'd quietly listen
To the talk of the going
And the coming of people
And please God if time's kind
And there's still a Big Pond
Oh I'd love to come back here again

The Lupins are dead now
But they did bloom well now
And the vetch and the wild weeds
That grow in your green fields
And please God if time's kind
And there's still a Big Pond
Oh I'd love to come back here again

God I'd love to come back here again

Bring It To Me

There couldn't be a greater night
With love all around me,
Around me so tight
Won't you bring all your love
Won't you bring it, won't you bring it to me

There couldn't be a safer place
With hearts so on fire
Nowhere to escape
Won't you bring all your love
Won't you bring it, won't you bring it to me

Chorus
Bring all your love to me
You don't know how it feels
I would walk through my darkest hour
Knowing that you were there for me

There couldn't be a greater night
With your love around me,
Around me so tight
Won't you bring all your love
Won't you bring it, won't you bring it to me

There couldn't be a sweeter sound
The words that I hear, babe
When you are around
Won't you bring all your love
Won't you bring it, won't you bring it to me

There couldn't be a greater pride
With you on my arm babe
And love in your eye
Won't you bring all your love
Won't you bring it, won't you bring it to me

Chorus
There couldn't be a greater night
With your love around me,
Around me so tight
Won't you bring all your love
Won't you bring it, won't you bring it to me

Won't you bring all your love
Won't you bring it, won't you bring it to me

Won't you bring all your love
Oh bring it, oh bring it to me

Broken Heart Strings

Like the stars in the black sky
There's teardrops in your eyes
And I know who put them there tonight
But I don't deal in love songs
The pain it lasts too long
So I hope you don't mind if I treat this light

Chorus:
There are so many lovers
With so many troubles
And more broken heartstrings than I care to know

Like the birds in the blue sky
There's leaving on your mind
And I know just how you feel tonight
But the places you run to
To heal all of your wounds
Holds a window of darkness
To keep out the light

Chorus

Like the trees in the forest
You're back here among us
And I know just how you feel tonight
For the pain has subsided
You're finally smiling
So I hope you don't mind
If I treat this light.

Chorus

The Crossing

Our generations come from here
My father told me stories
Of how he would return one day
And in a time of glory
We were distant by our many miles
Made distant by the sailing
I've come to stand in father's place
I heard the night winds wailing

He was haunted by a melody
He heard so long ago
It came from in his mother's heart
And touched his very soul
Oh I've often heard him speak your name
Although we've never met
I've come to see for father now
To put his mind to rest

Chorus:
And when the night lies over you
And I lay gently dreaming
Although the candle burns no more
The journey's now completed

The past is far behind us now
It was buried in the crossing
We have our place that bears the trace
Of times so long forgotten
We were distant by our broken ties
Made distant by the ocean
I've come to stand in father's place
I heard the night wind calling

He was haunted by a melody
He heard so long ago
It came from in his mother's heart
And touched his very soul
Oh I've often heard him speak your name
Although we've never met
I've come to see for father now
To put his mind to rest

Thinking Of You

So you say your heart's been broken
By a love that you once knew
That was given to another
It made you blue, it made you blue

Like the waves out on the ocean
When they're rolling in to me
In the magic of the motion
Thinking of you, thinking of you

Thinking of you keeps me remembering
Love is a road it's never ending
Hearts can be broken, they can be mended
Life it goes on whatever we do

I can hear the rain a falling
I can feel the warm sun too
I have been inside the rainbow
Dreaming of you, dreaming of you

Thinking of you keeps me remembering
Love is a road it's never ending
Hearts can be broken, they can be mended
Life goes on whatever we do

Thinking of you keeps me remembering
Love is a road it's never ending
Hearts can be broken, they can be mended
Life it goes on whatever we do

Thinking of you keeps me remembering
Love is a road it's never ending
Hearts can be broken, they can be mended
Life it goes on whatever we do

I Need To Feel Close Again

I can't see my life without you
And I can't live my life like this
The long night is over
It doesn't get any colder
And we're out of love again

And oh how the words all fail me
When I needed to be strong
But love has no mercy
On someone who's hurting
And I miss you most of all

Chorus:
Can we try this one more time
Let the loving begin
For between you and me
It's a question of need
And I need to feel close again

They say that by tomorrow
A brighter sun will shine
All the years spent together
All the loving and caring
When there was just you and me

When I feel love again
It's an emotion so strong
Between the passion and pain
The world's not the same
And I need to feel close again

When I feel love again
It's an emotion so strong
Between the passion and pain
The world's not the same
And I need to feel close again
Between the passion and pain
The world's not the same
And I need to feel close again
